Phlebotomy Instructor

Danette Yancey started her career in healthcare in 2011 where she received her Diploma in Medical Assisting from Kaplan College. She is currently teaching Phlebotomy at Medway Institute in Chicago, IL. A strong advocate of hands-on, inquiry-based learning, she involves her students in problem-solving, and technology-infused activities that provide them with opportunities to use their professional skills to help others. Her professional career includes working for Advocate Medical Group in Occupational Health and Neurosurgery, Northwestern Hospital in OB/GYNE and University of Chicago at Ingalls Memorial Hospital where she was promoted to a Clinical Supervisor. Danette interests is always education and giving back to her community, she taught at a variety of different schools such as Everest College, Westwood College, Coyne College, Brightwood College and Rockford Career College. She believes in pushing students to achieve their future goals. She is a business owner and a mother of one.

JR Smith


Rudyard Smith JR acquisition executive-turned-healthcare administrator. He received an MFA from CALARTS Theatre and a BFA from CALARTS’ prestigious Character Animation program. JR designed worlds for legendary author Ray Bradbury, Herb Alpert and Disney Imagineering. As an Acquisitions & Production Executive at IM Global, he worked on Martin Scorsese’s SILENCE, Mel Gibson’s HACKSAW RIDGE, Lee Daniel’s THE BUTLER, as well as the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY Franchise. He was Associate Producer on SOUTHSIDE WITH YOU, Michelle and Barack’s first date story that premiered at Sundance. Currently, he is building Medway Healthcare Institute with his family in Chicago and writing/producing in his spare time.

Sean Smith

Web / Technology Admin

Sean Smith graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Master of Science in Human Computer Interaction / Design. Previously worked as an assistant instructor for Indiana University classes including HCI and Virtual Reality Design. Then moved on to Crate & Barrel working as a digital design expert with their 3D design studio team. Utilizing backgrounds in science, education, and technology, Sean acts as Medway’s Chief technology officer, web designer, and course instructional designer.
